Er studierte Jazzpiano im niederländischen Arnheim und vertiefte sein Können bei den Pianisten in New Orleans, wo er seit über drei Jahrzehnten eng mit der Musikszene verbunden ist und seine musikalische Heimat gefunden hat. 🇩🇪 Das Baltikum und insbesondere Estland ist nun schon seit vielen Jahren ein Teil meines Lebens, dank meiner Frau Eda. Die Landschaft, das Licht und die Menschen sind immer mehr zu einer musikalischen Inspiration für mich geworden, die im Laufe der Jahre zu mehreren Kompositionen geführt hat. Einen kleinen Einblick in mein neues Programm „Baltic Blues“ möchte ich Euch in diesem Video geben. 2025 geht das Konzert dann auch live an den Start und featured überwiegend eigene Kompositionen auf einer musikalischen Reise von Estland nach Louisiana und beschäftigt sich u.a. mit der Frage, ob der Blues nicht auch hätte in Estland entstehen können. He has found his musical home in New Orleans, where he regularly spends time and also organises trips there. With his mostly melodic and groovy style, he draws on the stylistic diversity of New Orleans between tradition and modernity and combines classical jazz with contemporary influences as well as elements from world music, gospel, New Orleans rhythm'n'blues and pop. Jan Luley is also active as a composer, arranger and singer and has played over 2800 concerts in 18 European countries as well as in Africa, the USA and Israel. His piano playing can be heard on 21 albums, most of which have been released on his own label Luleymusic Records. The Berklee College of Music presented him with an award for "Outstanding Musicianship" in 1995. In 2011, Jan Luley received a certificate from Mitchell Landrieu, the mayor of New Orleans at the time, in recognition of his services to the musical tradition and musicians in New Orleans.

With over a century of jazz history in their fingers, they are masters of classic jazz as well as world music and contemporary styles. They interpret the timeless works of the great jazz legends and enrich their repertoire with their own compositions. In their program, Sieberth and Luley combine a wide variety of piano styles, breathtaking runs, rousing grooves and entertaining background information and take their audience on a highly virtuoso journey through the decades of jazz history. Creole Love Call ist einer der ersten Titel, die ich von Duke Ellington bewusst wahrgenommen habe. Die simple Schönheit der Melodie blieb an mir hängen und dann die Erkenntnis, dass das Stück nichts weiter als ein Blues ist. Dann diese verlängerte Subdominante in der Mitte. Ich mag die Schlichtheit diese Komposition. ********************** Creole Love Call is one of the first Duke Ellington songs I consciously heard. The simple beauty of the melody stuck with me and then the realization that the piece is nothing more than a blues. Then that extended subdominant in the middle.
