Special artist personalities expand the Jan Luley Trio to create extraordinary concert evenings for festivals and larger events.

Jan Luley Solo & Trio

Jan Luley, whom the press has dubbed a "wizard of the keys" (Schwäbische Zeitung) and a "titan on the steel strings of the grand piano" (FAZ), is one of the most versatile pianists of our time. His love of Creole music and piano styles from New Orleans is particularly infectious, enchanting and filling his audiences with positive energy. At each of his varied concerts, Jan Luley demonstrates that great art can simply be fun. His piano playing is like a gift, imbued with irrepressible energy, subtle wit and deep emotions.

 

TRIO

The double bass is usually played by Paul G. Ulrich, who has worked as a sought-after accompanist on international tours with a large number of renowned artists. For many years he was the permanent bassist of the Paul Kuhn Trio. Tobias Schirmer on drums is a musician whose sensitivity, sound awareness and stylistic flexibility are second to none. He studied classical percussion and jazz drums and received several awards for his playing in his youth.

🇩🇪 Das Baltikum und insbesondere Estland ist nun schon seit vielen Jahren ein Teil meines Lebens, dank meiner Frau Eda. Die Landschaft, das Licht und die Menschen sind immer mehr zu einer musikalischen Inspiration für mich geworden, die im Laufe der Jahre zu mehreren Kompositionen geführt hat. Einen kleinen Einblick in mein neues Programm „Baltic Blues“ möchte ich Euch in diesem Video geben. 2025 geht das Konzert dann auch live an den Start und featured überwiegend eigene Kompositionen auf einer musikalischen Reise von Estland nach Louisiana und beschäftigt sich u.a. mit der Frage, ob der Blues nicht auch hätte in Estland entstehen können. St. Louis Blues (W. C. Handy) - Jan Luley piano solo

The St. Louis Blues has been one of my favorites for many years and I always enjoy playing it. There is a reason why this title by W. C. Handy became so world-famous. The contrast between the different rhythms is seductive, the combination of the blues with the eight-bar part in a minor key a stroke of genius with which Handy outwitted the dancers, who at that time preferred the exotic, South American rhythms, and slipped them his blues. Der St. Louis Blues gehört seit vielen Jahren zu meinen Lieblingsstücken und ich spiele es immer wieder gerne. Es gibt einen Grund, warum dieser Titel von W. C. Handy so weltberühmt wurde. Der Kontrast zwischen den unterschiedlichen Rhythmen ist verführerisch, die Kombination des Blues mit dem achttaktigen Teil in Moll ein Geniestreich, mit dem Handy die Tänzer, die damals die exotischen, südamerikanischen Rhythmen bevorzugten, überlistete und ihnen seinen Blues unterjubelte. www.janluley.com

The singer, songwriter, actress and painter, who lives in Hamburg, is "the voice to be heard," as the magazine "L'Afritude" wrote. Her voice masters all nuances between silky breathed fog and the eruption of a volcano. At the same time, the music flows out of her completely naturally, is emotionally profound to exuberantly cheerful and relaxed. Jan Luley has been one of the top European jazz pianists for many years. With his style, which is usually as melodic as it is groovy, he refers to the stylistic diversity in New Orleans between tradition and modernity and combines classical jazz with influences from world music, gospel and New Orleans rhythm'n'blues. His music is timeless, versatile, pianistically on the highest level and in addition a deep bow to the musical tradition from New Orleans in a refreshingly contemporary realization. 🇩🇪 Ginea "Adi" Wolf stammt ursprünglich aus Bermuda und ist über London nach Deutschland gekommen. Mit seinem meist ebenso melodischen wie groovigen Stil nimmt er Bezug auf die stilistische Vielfalt in New Orleans zwischen Tradition und Moderne und verbindet klassischen Jazz mit Einflüssen aus Weltmusik, Gospel und New Orleans Rhythm'n'Blues.
