Ryan Carniaux (USA)

US trumpeter Ryan Carniaux offers a wide range of styles, impressing with a keen sense of melodic interpretation, a warm tone, and technical proficiency. He creates flowing soundscapes that transcend common clichés and are hauntingly distinctive.

Carniaux has been Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the Folkwang University since 2013, succeeding Uli Beckerhoff.

Ryan Carniaux and Jan Luley's new project is dedicated to the music of Louis Armstrong. Partly based on the originals, partly in stylistically altered arrangements left to the musicians' free interpretation, the program "Dear Mr. Armstrong" presents music by Louis Armstrong from various phases of his life and career.
